Extraction Artisan Coffee in Slacks Creek has made the list of Logan’s first Food Trails, a journey promoting Logan City’s popular local eateries.
Executive Account Manager Joel Hall from Rebel Connect ,who is organising the trail alongside council and advisories, has been lucky enough to taste the culinary delights offered from each local business during his video interviews.
“We are looking to highlight some of the real stars we have right here in the city of Logan, like Alex and the team at Extraction Artisan Coffee, Jimboomba House which has some of the best food in South East Queensland, and The Global Food Market which is a celebration of over 200 different cultures that we have in the city of Logan,” he said.

Alex Milosevic, owner of Extraction Artisan Coffee, says he is very excited to be part of Logan’s first Food Trails.
“I think the more aware you make the public of what services and facilities we have in the way of food and entertainment in Logan City, the less likely people will feel the need to travel into Brisbane or to the Gold Coast,” Mr Milosevic said.
With his partner Heather Scott, Mr Milosevic opened the business almost six years ago after seeing an opportunity to create something that was non-existent in Logan at the time.
“When we looked to start the business, we looked at the gap in the market, and like a lot of locals, we were driving into Brisbane or the Gold Coast to have dinner or coffee,” Mr Milosevic said. “It’s been a great journey.
“The community support has been tremendous. The support from the city itself and council has been great as well. We’ve got quite a progressive council and they’re looking at growing this space in the city and creating opportunities to put Logan on the map.”
Despite 2020 being a tough year for many businesses, Mr Milosevic says he is very thankful for having a great team.
“If it had been up to just Heather and I to do it, it would have been a much tougher journey,” he said. “But because we’ve got a business where our employees are actually invested in outcomes and our customers, it made the turn around easier.
“But we’re definitely looking for a break over Christmas, it has been stressful.”
Mr Milosevic says that coming into the new year, The Extraction Artisan Coffee team are looking forward to new projects.
“We’re looking at starting dinners on the deck two nights a week, once a month, and in the cafe we’ve got one of our chefs looking to move into a fine dining space.
“We may look into getting a liquor license next year as well, which will extend opportunities for the business to work into the evenings a bit more.”
The Extraction Artisan Coffee team has won various awards, including winner of the 2017 Logan City Council ‘Urban Design’ Award, winner of the 2019 The Sunday Mail ‘Best Place for Coffee’, and winner of 13 medals from 15 entries at the 2019 Golden Bean Coffee Roasting Competition.
