It’s the second day in Canberra for Logan City Mayor Darren Power – though, it’s far from a holiday.
He’s in the national capital with his south-east Queensland Council of Mayors counterparts, in the hopes it’ll be enough to call on the Federal Government to finalise the SEQ City Deal, which includes the 2032 Olympic Games.
The talks were due to be completed last year but was delayed due to the pandemic.
The deal involves a 20-year agreement between the Commonwealth, the Queensland Government and local councils, as well as industry.
The talks will also include another Logan City Federal MP – The Member for Rankin Jim Chalmers
The talkfest is more than just a focus on the Olympics, but also the delivery of infrastructure and the region’s growing population.
