Families in Bahrs Scrub and neighbouring suburbs will have a dedicated school bus service to their closest state school, Edens Landing State School, from tomorrow onwards.
Member for Macalister Melissa McMahon said with the population of Bahrs Scrub growing significantly, the State Government and Logan Coaches would partner to deliver the new school service under the School Transport Assistance Scheme (STAS).
STAS provides financial assistance to parents of eligible students to help transport their children to and from school, with the new service having the potential to benefit dozens of STAS-eligible Edens Landing State School students.
The State Government provides more than $175 million annually for STAS, assisting about 130,000 school students across the state.
“From what families have told me, we know there are a great number of families that will benefit from this service in the short and long term,” Ms McMahon said.
“Logan Coaches has developed a proposed route and stops for the service based on a number of factors, including where the registered students live and what is easily accessible.
“TransLink and Logan Coaches will continue to monitor the route and stops as more students register, and adjust as necessary to deliver the best possible service for everyone.
“Public transport services like this add to our record $4.5 billion roads and transport investment in the region, including the $749 million M1 upgrade through Logan.”
Run 41 will leave from 679 Waterford Tamborine Road at 7.50am each weekday, travelling along Jarvis, Buccan, Honeyeater, Brookhaven and Goundry.
Roads and arriving at Edens Landing State School by 8.30am and depart the school at 3.00pm with the last stop at 3.45pm.
