Scenic Rim set to benefit from New Zealand tourists again

  • Rod Stephen is a former television journalist and has worked as Foreign Editor for the Seven Network, Australian Bureau Chief for TV3 New Zealand, UK correspondent for Seven and ABC radio and as a producer for Reuters TV in London as well as SBS in Sydney and Melbourne before returning to Brisbane to work at 4BC.

Scenic Rim tourist destinations are set to benefit from the lifting of COVID-19 travel restrictions between Australia and New Zealand.

The lifting of the restrictions yesterday saw the resumption of commercial passenger flights  between both countries for the first time in more than a year.

Queensland Tourism Industry Council, CEO, Daniel Gschwind, expects the Scenic Rim to  become a major destination for travellers from New Zealand.

“ You know, there are a lot of flights coming into Brisbane and to the Gold Coast eventually as well and that is certainly an opportunity for the Scenic Rim to showcase what is so special and so unique about a region within easy reach of those major airports”.
