There’s clarification this morning on whether border zone locals need a travel declaration.
As we reported yesterday Queensland’s Chief Health officer has confirmed that from 1am Saturday, anyone entering Queensland from another state will need to make an online travel declaration.
Authorities say residents across the Queensland – New South Wales border may be exempt from having to complete a travel declaration to enter the Sunshine State.
That means some Scenic Rim residents won’t need to apply for the declaration if they regularly travel into New South Wales.
However, if you are travelling between Logan City and the border, you are not considered part of the border zone.
As the 1am deadline looms, the Government’s working to re-establish a cross border zone for local residents.
You can enter Queensland without having to complete a travel declaration if you:
- Are a Queensland or New South Wales Border zone resident who has only been in the New South Wales border zone or Queensland in the last 14 days
- Entered Queensland by road (if you enter by air or sea you will need to make a declaration)
- Have not been to an interstate exposure venue or COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days (if you have, you will need to complete a declaration).
- As always, you are best advised to follow the guidelines as set out on the Government website.
