Truck driver charged over incident at heavy vehicle stop

A 43-year-old man has been charged with dangerous operation of a truck following investigations into an incident at a heavy vehicle traffic stop at Wallangarra on the 21st of this month.

The truck driver was originally issued with four infringement notices after he produced invalid border passes before becoming abusive and striking parts of his vehicle with his fists.

It‘s alleged when the driver saw one of the tickets being issued, he performed a U-Turn, almost hitting the intercepting officer when driving away at speed.

The man has been charged with one count of Failing to Comply to a Covid 19 Border Direction, and three tickets for not showing his license,failing to wear a seatbelt and an illegal U-Turn.

He’ll face Stanthorpe Magistrates Court on September 22.
