Police are guarding a crime scene at Woodridge, after the body of a man was found following a fatal house fire over the weekend.
The alarm was raised around 12:30 on Sunday morning.
Police and emergency services were called to Nyanza Street at Woodridge where they found the house engulfed in fire.
The fire caused extensive damage to the house with the upper level and roof collapsing.
Originally, concerns were raised about the welfare of a man, aged in his 60’s, who could not be located.
Late Sunday afternoon, the body of a man was located during a search of the property.
A crime scene was declared as investigations continue to work to determine the cause of the fire.
Crews took nearly 5 hours to put out the fire at the in Nyanza St address.
