Charlie Murrihy, from Daisy Hill, has been busy thinking up innovative ways to raise money to buy Christmas presents for Logan City kids who would otherwise go without.
The 9 year old’s mother, Jody Murrihy, said she was extremely proud of her daughters giving nature.
“Charlie is always looking for ways to help others. It’s just in her nature,” she said.
“It all started when we went to Kmart recently and Charlie first saw the big Christmas tree there and asked me what it was for.
“I explained to her that locals leave presents there because some kids don’t get Christmas presents. Especially since it’s been a really tough year with Covid and lots of people losing jobs.
“She was horrified and insisted we do something to raise money to buy presents so every kid gets something.”
Charlie then formulated a plan to ensure as many Logan City kids as possible would wake up to at least one present come Christmas morning.

“My dad had an excess amount of sugar cane hay bales and Charlie decided she wanted to sell them to buy presents to leave under the Kmart Christmas tree for kids doing it tough this year,” Jody said.
“I posted in our local Facebook community group and we’ve already managed to sell ten hay bales and raise $100.
“Charlie has twenty left to sell.
“She’s also decided after this she’s going to collect as many cans and bottles as she can to raise more money for Christmas presents.”
Jody said to reach out to her on Facebook if interested in buying any hay bales or donating cans and bottles for Charlie to recycle.
“I’m so proud of Charlie. She’s so mature and is always wanting to do anything she can to help,” she said.
“I’d like to encourage other parents to get their kids on board to do the same thing and raise money for those in need this Christmas.”
