A wild police car chase on the Darling Downs has led to two arrests

Darling Downs police have arrested and charged two 18-year-olds after an alleged stolen 4WD crashed into a house in Oakey this morning.

It’s alleged that a 4WD which was stolen from a home in Raff Street Toowoomba early on Wednesday morning was also involved in a petrol drive-off at a Charlton service station on the Warrego Highway.

Police conducted extensive patrols in the Charlton, Kingsthorpe and Oakey areas before locating the vehicle travelling westbound on 4AK Road towards Oakey.

Soon after a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed however the vehicle failed to stop, and a police pursuit began.

Police will further allege the stolen 4WD failed to negotiate a bend at the intersection with Hamlyn Road and collided with a house causing significant damage.

The residents, two adults and two teenagers who were asleep at the time, weren’t hurt, with a teenage boy fortunate  enough to escape injury after the vehicle collided with his bed.

The three occupants of the vehicle, two men and one woman, fled on foot with police apprehending two 18-year-olds soon after.

One of those arrested was a Chinchilla man. He’s been charged with eight offences and was denied police bail.

The other was a Toowoomba woman. She’s been charged with burglary and other offences and was granted police bail.

She’ll face Toowoomba Magistrates Court in three weeks.

Police investigations are continuing.
