You can expect cooler temperatures today ahead of a weekend cold snap.

That’s the message after another round of storms hit Logan City overnight…

100 thousand lightning strikes were recorded last night, although Logan City managed to escape the worst of the storms.

Trains were suspended across the rail network because overhead power lines were affected.

Operations on the Beenleigh line only returned to normal this-morning.

More than 10 thousand Energex customers across South East Queensland were without power at the height of last night’s thunderstorm activity.

Rob Stork from Energex says the storms produced a light show across the region, and left thousands without power.

Yesterday,  Wyaralong Dam in the Scenic Rim was spilling following the heavy falls.

The weather is expected to clear over the days ahead but it’s being replaced by a cold snap, with minimum daily temperatures in Brisbane dropping down to the low teens from tomorrow.
