Police are investigating whether the alleged murders of two elderly people at Parkinson, located to Logan City’s northwest, could be linked to the fatal shooting of a man on the Logan Motorway.
The man, Raghe Abdi from Calamvale, was shot dead by police officers on Thursday when they were called to the Motorway at Drewvale where he had been walking alongside the roadway. The 22-year old allegedly confronted them with a knife and was fired on.
Police sid he had been the subject of a counter-terrorism investigation.
Deputy federal police commissioner Ian McCartney said Abdi had been on bail and had to wear a tracking device, which he had cut off and thrown into nearby bushland.
On Thursday afternoon, police were called to an address on Ulinga Crescent, Parkinson, to conduct a welfare check.
An 87-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman, believed to be residents of the home, were found dead inside after suffering significant injuries.
The ethical standards command is investigating the police shooting, overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
