Roads crumble – Logan City Council responds

Logan City Council is making sandbags available to residents ahead of the forecast of more heavy rain.

Low-lying parts of the city have experienced flash flooding as a result of weekend rainfall and more inundations are expected today and tomorrow.

Sandbags will be available to collect from 10am this morning from the Logan East
SES Depot, 26-36 Winnetts Road, Daisy Hill.

Collection of sandbags from other Logan City Council depots is not available.

Residents will need to collect their own sandbags, if this is not possible, you’re being encouraged to contact the SES on 132 500 to make alternative arrangements.

Council is currently assessing damage to the city’s road network and has closed a
number of roads, although currently,  there are no flood warnings for the Albert and Logan Rivers.

Logan SES received 26 requests for assistance over the weekend, mostly for leaky
rooves.

Logan City Council has officially closed four of its roads including:

Boxer Ave at Shailer Park, Erwin Road at Carbrook and Tamara St at Marsden.

Council officers were aware of the damage to about 100m of Boxer Ave and plans were under way to get it fixed.

Bahrs Scrub Rd at Bahrs Scrub is also out of action,  due to yesterday’s flooding.

The council also reported that the Pacific Motorway at Loganholme and parts of the Logan Motorway at Berrinba were sectioned off.

Low-lying parts of Logan city have experienced flash flooding and more flooding is expected today and tomorrow.
