The Bureau of Meteorology Queensland has issued a flash flooding warning for Logan City, and locals have confirmed flooding in Beenleigh that is ‘unsafe to drive through’; however the Logan City Council SES media spokesperson has denied roads are flooded or closed in Logan City.

Beenleigh locals have taken to a Facebook community page to share flooded road pictures and videos.

Kel McGill, who lives in Beenleigh, said actually a road has been closed from flash flooding.

“The Boundary Street approach to the roundabout on George St in Beenleigh,” she said about the picture she sent in of the closed road.

“Most locals know this spot as a usual suspect for flooding.”

Ms McGill also sent in this video of visible flash flooding in Beenleigh.

“We had a rain rate up to 170mm/hr at the heaviest. We’ve had 110mm of rain since midnight. It was some of the heaviest rain here in a long time,” she said.

“People probably shouldn’t have been driving through that water on Chapman Drive. I looked at the Boundary St and George St traffic cam and there seemed to be a lot of water over the road in the usual spot beside the Coles Shell servo.

“Apparently Manila St in Beenleigh had some water around too.”

Kirsty Robinson sent My News Feed this video of the flooded road beside the Coles Shell service station at Beenleigh.

“It happened out of no where and the unit Braniff villas was blocked in both entrances,” she said.

“No car truck could make it through it’s that deep.”

Beenleigh local Faith Hardie said she saw flash flooding too, and sent in a photo near her place.

“Tweedvale Street, Beenleigh. Had cars having to turn around,” she said.

“100% people should not have driving in that, the only cars that did were land cruises or a bus, it was about halfway to my knees.”

The Bureau of Meteorology Queensland also confirmed flash flooding in Beenleigh.

“113mm in the hour to 1:15pm was recorded at Hotham Creek, south of Beenleigh,”

The Bureau of Meteorology Queensland is set to release another update at 3.30pm.

As of 3pm Sunday (March 21) the Logan City Council SES media spokesperson said in Logan City there were no active jobs due to water on the road, no flash flooding, and no roads closed.
