Member for Rankin Jim Chalmers has responded to a protest held outside his Logan City office.

Dr Chalmers office was one of seven targeted by the Queensland Nurses and Midwives Union.

The rallies were aimed at putting pressure on federal politicians to act immediately to protect elderly Australians in private aged care.

The rallies followed the release of a report from the Royal Commission into Aged Care – The Federal Government says it’s committed to reform.

Jim Chalmers took to social media on Monday to share his thoughts.

“Today the report of the royal commission into the aged care crisis was handed down,” he said.

“A good time to listen to the many Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union reps who visited my office today to make their strong views about staffing levels known.

“Thank you to everyone who came along, for sharing your perspectives and especially for the work you do in our health and aged care systems.”
