Getting that Covid test

It’s not as bad as people say it is.

Inside the testing centre awaiting the procedure

Each testing location has a different way of handling the situation but the testing centre that I attended was well run, clean and organised.  On Friday,  I was one of thousands to discover how it works.

On arrival.  I was greeted by a security guard at the door who had my name already on a list.  He directed me to the facility’s administrator who asked me a few questions.   I was then taken to a small room where a trained doctor performed the procedure.

I was swabbed from my tongue at the back of my throat,   which only lasted about two seconds.

That was followed by (slight cringe here) a swab up my nostrils.  Again,  it only lasted about two seconds and it was done.   The lingering after-effect was like the feeling you get when you get water up your nose,  but that feeling slowly went away.

Then,   I was done!   The entire procedure took less than a minute.

Ofcourse,  I now have to await the results,  which I was advised would take between 2 and 5 days.

Having gone through this procedure,  I can honestly say there’s nothing to worry about and I would encourage others to get tested,  if they have also been in an area under scrutiny,  or are feeling unwell.
