Emergency response questioned

  • Rod Stephen is a former television journalist and has worked as Foreign Editor for the Seven Network, Australian Bureau Chief for TV3 New Zealand, UK correspondent for Seven and ABC radio and as a producer for Reuters TV in London as well as SBS in Sydney and Melbourne before returning to Brisbane to work at 4BC.

The Police Commissioner believes:  there’s clearly an issue with how triple-zero calls are being prioritised in the wake of last week’s fatal Logan City house fire.

A police review is underway, after it was revealed Doreen Langham  phoned emergency services just hours before she was killed in a blaze at Browns Plains, along with her ex partner.

Katarina Carroll  says, if there is a history of domestic violence and it’s not being considered urgent , then  something’s not working.

“It just did not look or feel right. The decision about the despatch and the information, under any framework would be correct but there was something wrong. There’s something wrong and sub-optimal in the system”.
