According to Logan City Councillor Miriam Stemp, International Women’s Day is ‘a time to reflect upon the achievements of the generations before us, understand our responsibility in the present, and consider how we can inspire the next generation’.
Cr Stemp said she will be celebrating the day by attending a Logan Chamber of Commerce breakfast and two local school events in the coming week
“Diversity in leadership positions is important,” she said.
“I believe our leaders should be a balanced mix of gender, age and race from different backgrounds to bring a together a mix of knowledge and experiences.”
Cr Stemp said the best piece of advice another woman has passed on to her was ‘it is never too late to be who you might have been, so don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself’.
“Find your passion, persevere, and work hard to achieve your goals knowing there is often more than one way to reach them.”
