Logan City Police have charged a 29-year-old Loganlea man with high range speeding, evading police, and driving with a suspended license after he was allegedly caught travelling at more than double the speed limit.

It will be alleged that Loganholme Police observed the vehicle and male driver travelling along Bryants Road at Shailer Park about 3pm on March 10, travelling at 98km/h in a 40km/h school zone – 58km/h above the posted speed limit.

Police directed the driver to stop the vehicle, however the driver disobeyed this direction and failed to stop.

Police made inquiries in relation to the vehicle and located the driver with the vehicle at a nearby address.

The driver was issued a Notice to Appear to attend Beenleigh court on April 24.

The vehicle was seized by police and forfeited to the crown.

Exceeding any posted speed limit means that a driver has a restricted ability to respond to an unexpected emergency and can have severe consequences which can lead to tragedy.

Police are reminding motorists to Drive Smarter, Not Faster.

Speed enforcement patrols – both static and mobile – will not go away.

All motorists should expect that police patrols will be active on the same roads and highways they are travelling, every day.

Loganholme Police issued a further five traffic infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit during this time to various drivers in Logan City.

Police are reminding drivers to be safe and stay aware of your surroundings at all times when on the road.

Zero tolerance will be taken in relation to speeding
