The Lockdown in Logan City and the rest of Greater Brisbane has ended five hours earlier than expected after Queensland recorded just one new COVID-19  locally acquired case in 24 hours.

Ten new cases were detected in hotel quarantine overnight. The sole new local case was linked back to an existing cluster.

Qld Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

Private gatherings are still being capped at 30 people and masks will remain mandatory indoors.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has said a record 34,711 tests were conducted overnight.

“The lockdown has been lifted in greater Brisbane, but we’re not out of the woods yet, so I’m asking all Queenslanders for the next two weeks to do the right thing, we can get through this together,” the Premier said.

Ms Palaszczuk revoked greater Brisbane’s hotspot declaration and asked other states to follow suit.

Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeanette Young believes another lockdown is avoidable.

“‘ it doesn’t mean the outbreak is over. It just means, I don’t believe we need the lockdown to manage this outbreak going forward. We can use those other restrictions and the response that Queenslanders have put in”.
