Up to 40 workers will soon be decking out the roof of Logan City’s biggest shopping centre with 12,400 solar panels.
These new solar panels will generate 4.96 megawatts of power. That’s enough to power 1000 average homes and enough to stretch to Brisbane city if laid end to end.
Member for Springwood Mick De Brenni announced the news, and said he was excited for a renewable future for the Logan City shopping centre.

“Putting solar on the roof of the Hyperdome is a slam-dunk for renewable energy,” Mr De Brenni said.
“Given its scale and the amount of electricity its shops and air conditioning uses.
“As well as lowering the carbon impact of our local shopping centre, it will save money.”
The Hyperdome is owned by the Queensland Government’s investment company — the Queensland Investment Corporation — enabling investments that support wider community benefits.
