Riley Day spends weekend in hotel quarantine

She’s back from Tokyo and has just spent her first weekend in hotel quarantine.

Beaudesert’s Riley Day smashed her personal best at the Olympics, narrowly missing a spot in the women’s 200m final.

Day’s 22.56sec beat her 22.77 from March as a new high-water mark, with the Beaudesert local falling just short of the 22.40sec required to reach the prestigious final.

The 21-year-old was elated after finishing, despite the near-miss.

As previously reported on My News Feed, Day told waiting media: “That’s a massive PB. That’s awesome.”

Unfortunately, Day’s time was not quick enough to qualify for the final

The 21-year-old finished fourth in her semi.

She is now back in Australia and facing her next big challenge:  14 days quarantine at a Brisbane hotel.

Since her return, she’s received a variety of messages from locals and fellow athletes to keep her in the right frame of mind until she gets released.
