Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk
It follows concerns about the rising number of covid postive cases in New South Wales and how cases have travelled north, closing-in on the Queensland border.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says additional officers were pulled in over the weekend to tighten the border check points
The Premier warned Queensland is “not out of the woods yet” and that the lockdown of New South Wales meant Queensland’s border control measures had been tightened, describing them the “tightest” controls ever put in place.
Police commissioner Katarina Carroll said every single car coming into Queensland would be intercepted.
Ms Carroll also asked for people to patient at the Queensland-NSW border as she expects queues to form.
“I ask Queenslanders not to travel into New South Wales, and those coming from New South Wales can only come in if they have an exemption or part of the essential working group,”
Ms Palaszczuk says regarding the Queensland/New South Wales border that authorities worked very hard to get extra police in place on Saturday night.
“Anyone living on the Gold Coast should wear their mask at all times given how close the NSW border is”.
Again, anyone who feels ill with Covid-like symptoms should get tested.
