Day’s 22.56sec beat her 22.77 from March as a new high-water mark, with the Beaudesert local falling just short of the 22.40sec required to reach the prestigious final.
The 21-year-old was elated after finishing, despite the near-miss.
As previously reported on My News Feed, Day told waiting media: “That’s a massive PB. That’s awesome.”
Unfortunately, Day’s time was not quick enough to qualify for the final
The 21-year-old finished fourth in her semi.
She is now back in Australia and facing her next big challenge: 14 days quarantine at a Brisbane hotel.
Since her return, she’s received a variety of messages from locals and fellow athletes to keep her in the right frame of mind until she gets released.
