Keeping an eye on Covid in Logan City

The search continues for a least four people who attended a Beenleigh nail salon but failed to check in using the Q-R code.

Dr Jeannette Young

The group is believed to have been at the facility last Monday –  at the same time as a Covid infected truckie.

Authorities say at this stage all Covid testing has come back negative and she’s praising the efforts of Logan City locals who’ve done the right thing.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Doctor Jeannette Young says 36 children related to the Windaroo State School who were deemed close contacts have also been tested,  with 34 coming back negative.

The parents of the remaining two children have refused to get their children tested.

Previously, Dr Young has warned one new case of the highly infectious Delta variant would trigger stay-at-home orders.

She says if cases arose from the Beenleigh Marketplace in an “uncontrolled” situation, then she would have to consider a lockdown.

Today she told reporters, she’s starting to feel better about the Beenleigh situation as more negative tests come in.
