Beenleigh Steel Fabrications (BSF) will soon expand to a $4.2 million facility, as works started at a new site at Berrinba today.
The sod was turned on the manufacturing plant by Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Investment Cameron Dick MP, Federal Member for Rankin Jim Chalmers MP and Logan City Council Deputy Mayor Jon Raven.
Construction of the site is set to take six months, with the facility to create at least 59 new jobs.
Mr Dick says construction of the new workspace reinforced BSF’s commitment to Logan and employment in the city.
“This new $4.2 million manufacturing facility will double Beenleigh Steel Fabrications’ floorspace and production capacity.
“Most importantly this means more local jobs, with at least 59 new jobs set to be created with BSF over the next five years.
Mr Dick says BSF has a terrific story to tell.
Mr Chalmers says it is a great source of pride that BSF have supplied iconic projects such as the Gabba and North Queensland Stadium from the local area.
Deputy Mayor Raven says the development was one of the first votes of the new Council.
“This is the kind of project that makes a difference in people’s lives.
“It’s a massive commitment to our city and our people.”
BSF Director Anthony Stoeckert says staff are excited about the company’s future and that of the Logan area.
“Our expansion will create job opportunities for up to right apprentices and trainees per year in boilermaking, rigging, dogging, machine operation and computer skills.
“We are keen to find local Logan people to take up these opportunities and to be a part of growing our city.”
Operating out of Crestmead since 1980, BSF have carved out a strong market niche in architectural steel fabrications for large-scale projects Australia-wide.
BSF have supplied into projects ranging from stadiums, bridges, hospitals, army barracks, car parks and rail stations.
