Police are still investigating an attack on an elderly Dalby man and one of his neighbours after they were struck with a hammer during an attempted armed robbery at the older man’s home yesterday morning.
The neighbour suffered the injuries after joining forces with fellow neighbours and coming to the aid of the elderly resident.
They were allegedly attacked by a man and a woman just after 7am.
A witness says the good neighbour jumped to action to help the older man before being hit with the hammer several times himself.
Paramedics took three patients to Dalby Hospital in stable conditions – including two with head injuries.
