A 34-year-old Crestmead man will face Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow on charges of grievous bodily harm and the strangulation of the mother of his son.
It follows investigations into the alleged attack on the 25 year old mum late yesterday afternoon at a Meriton apartment in Southport where the couple had been staying, and the taking of his son which started an Amber Alert.
Police allege the man took his 11-month-old baby from the location before police arrived.
The little boy was found safe and well around just after midnight on Saturday after being taken to Crestmead Police Station.
Detective Inspector Chris Ahearn says the father was arrested near the Oxley Motor Inn in a storage container shortly after he attempted to escape from police.

The man’s partner and mother of his son is in the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
