Police have charged a man following the armed robbery of a hotel at Waterford West overnight.
It’s alleged that around 1.40am, a masked man and woman raided The Queenslander Hotel on Chambers Flat Road in a red Mazda 323 hatchback where the man produced a firearm and threatened staff.
The pair then allegedly fled the hotel after stealing a backpack and filling it with cash.
Following investigations, police located the red Mazda driving along Ewing Road around 6.30am today.
Officers tracked the vehicle to the Kingston train station where the man parked and fled on foot.
He was arrested a short distance away allegedly hiding in a garden at a Juers Road house in possession of a large quantity of money.
A 33-year-old Biggera Waters man has subsequently been charged with two counts of deprivation of liberty and one count each of armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possessing explosives (ammunition).
Investigations continue and police are now appealing to the two customers who walked into the armed robbery, to come forward.
Furthermore, the same man has also been charged in relation to a separate wounding incident at Kingston last Sunday.
Around 2.20pm a man and woman, both 32-years-old, were sitting at a bus-stop on Velorum Drive when a red Mazda 323 hatchback drove up to them.
It’s alleged that the male driver, who was not known to them, exited the vehicle and assaulted them both with a machete before fleeing.
The man and woman were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where they were treated for lacerations.
The 33-year-old Biggera Waters man has now been charged with two counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. He’s scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow.
