Support shown for animal keeping site

A proposal to establish an animal keeping and training facility at North Maclean has received support from the local community.

Logan City Council received an application on Tuesday, seeking to establish an animal keeping facility at 474-480 Teviot Road, North Maclean.

The application was lodged by Maria Sonia Harman and Mark Kenneth.

The proposed development involves animal keeping on site as part of the business called Behaving K9s.

Behaving K9s is a training, day care and boarding business specifically for dogs.

The business has a focus on creating a harmonious relationship between dogs and dog owners.

Behaving K9s offers private behavioural consultation and training sessions, day care as well as overnight boarding services for dogs.

The proposed facility includes a new building to be located in the south-western part of the site.

This building will be used for an office, as well as the housing and training centre.

A fenced training yard is proposed adjacent to the west of the building.

The existing dwelling house will contain the owner occupier who also runs the family business.

A fenced training yard is also proposed adjacent to the east of the dwelling house

A number of letters are included in support of this application received from neighbours, clients of Behaving K9s, pet owners, veterinarians and other members of the local community.

A total of 76 letters were received.

The letters include details of personal experiences clients have received from using the services at Behaving K9s, as well the important service and positive contribution the business provides to the local community.

Logan City Council will consider the proposal before making a decision at a later date.
