Tolls suspended on Logan Motorway

Tolls have been suspended on the Logan Motorway until Sunday to help Logan locals navigate road closures across the City.

It comes as traffic chaos ensued on the M1 and local roads yesterday, due to a crash, as well as road closures caused by the ongoing flood.

The toll suspension came into effect yesterday and will last until midnight on Sunday.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey says flooding has seen a number of key roads closed.

“This toll suspension will help people get to where they need to be, without the burden of a toll fee at this difficult time.

“The toll road system provides drivers with connection to areas, which are currently cut off from other access due to flood damage.”

Mr Bailey urged drivers to reconsider any non-essential travel at this time, due to heavy traffic volumes.

“We are seeing more cars on the road as the rain clears and people get back out there, but I ask everyone to reconsider your travel if you do not need to be out and about.

“Public transport is operating at a reduced capacity, so if you do need to travel please plan ahead and expect some delays on our roads.

“As always, if it’s flooded, forget it.”

As the floodwaters go down, Transport and Main Roads will inspect bridges and culverts to ensure roads can be opened as quickly and safely as possible.
