One of the region’s better known marsupials, Gibb the koala, continues to recover after surviving being hit by a car in Logan.
The koala sustained head injuries when struck by a car in Buccan on September 8 and was originally taken to the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital in Wacol for treatment. Tests also showed he had been infected with chlamydia, meaning he will need to undergo further care until the end of October by which time veterinarians expect that he will be able to released back into the wild.
Gibb’s rescuers reportedly gave him the nickname in honour of the Bee Gees.
