A trio of Beenleigh sports clubs are set for a major overhaul if Bert van Manen and the Coalition Government are re-elected.
The Federal Member for Forde, has pledged $3.6 million to upgrade Beenleigh’s Hammel Park Sport Precinct.
“This project has the potential to revitalise Beenleigh’s central sports zone.”
“Hundreds of netballers, baseballers and rugby league players and their families use these facilities every week.”
“Sadly, the clubhouses and other amenities have been neglected for so long that they are now in desperate need of refurbishment.”
The Federal Government and Logan City Council will partner 50-50 to fund the $7.2 million project.
The Beenleigh Hawks Baseball Club will receive $1.5 million from the Federal Government; the Beenleigh Rugby League will get $1.35 million; and Beenleigh Netball $750,000.
This is the latest funding pledge to our community sport clubs, which also include:
- $5 million to upgrade the Beenleigh Tennis Club
- $1 million for a new club house for Ormeau FC
- $250,000 for new lighting at the Ormeau Bulldogs AFL club • $170,00 for new lighting at Loganholme Cricket Club • $150,000 Twin Rivers Mallet (Croquet Club) extension
Mr van Manen says it’s a total commitment of more than $10.2 million dollars for local sports clubs from a re-elected Liberal National Government.
“These clubs not only provide somewhere for our community to play.”
“They are places where lifelong relationships are forged and children learn the lessons of fair play, team spirit and friendship.”
