Logan and the Scenic Rim are being battered by strong winds that have been lashing both regions since last night causing more than two thousand three hundred homes and businesses in both regions to lose power.
As of midday 1,400 properties in Kingston had lost power, 479 in Logan Central, one in Loganlea, 15 in North maclean, 193 in Slacks Creek, 31 in Woodridge, 102 in Kuraby and 30 at Carbrook.
73 other properties at Tamborine in the Scenic Rim are also without power.
Energex crews are working on restoring the electricity supply to those homes and businesses as quickly as possible.
Weather Bureau meteorologist Helen Reid says she doesn’t expect the winds to ease anytime soon.
Ms Reid also says both regions can expect even colder temperatures over the next couple of days.
The winds and cooler temperatures have been delivered by a blast from the Antarctic that is hitting most of south east Queensland.
