Slacks Creek man charged with armed robbery

A 25-year-old Slacks Creek man has been charged with 15 offences in relation to an armed robbery at Manly West last Tuesday.

It is alleged two men went to a Preston Road store at approximately 5.15am, before one of the men demanded money and cigarettes from a store attendant.

It is further alleged the attendant was assaulted, and the men left with a quantity of cash, in a vehicle stolen from Brookwater the day before.

On Wednesday patrolling Highway Patrol officers saw the stolen vehicle allegedly driving dangerously in the Bayside area.

POLAIR tracked the vehicle to Amberjack Street in Manly West, where it is alleged the two occupants ran from the vehicle.

Police and dog squad officers already deployed in the area swiftly located and arrested the two men.

The Slacks Creek man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery (in company, wounded, using personal violence), common assault, serious assault person over 60, assault occasioning bodily harm (armed/in company), burglary, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, receiving tainted property and two counts each of wilful damage and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and three counts of enter premise with intent to commit an indictable offence.

A 23-year-old Woolloongabba man has been charged with offences unrelated to the Manly West robbery, including receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter premise and commit indictable offence, fail to dispose of needle and fail to appear.

Both men appeared before Wynnum Magistrates Court last Thursday , where they were remanded in custody with their matters expected to be heard again on June 27.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage in the area surrounding Preston Road between 5am and 6am last Tuesday is urged to contact police.

Investigations remain ongoing.
