Mini by name but certainly not by nature, Mini Beasts is the newest family-friendly activation to arrive at Logan City Hyperdome.

It’s a captivating exhibition comprising four giant, interactive insects to set shoppers’ imaginations abuzz.

Customers will discover an Australian Swallowtail Butterfly catching some sun in The Piazza, a Neon Cuckoo Bee checking out the new-look North Mall, an interactive Cicada perusing its lunch options in Centre Court, and an Australian Jumping Spider stretching its legs outside Coles.

Unlike their real-life mates in nature, these multi-coloured creatures are super-sized – standing up to four metres tall.

Shoppers can expect to be more than surprised upon coming face-to-face with the magnificent four – delighted also by the encounter that will charm locals.

Brought to life by award-winning conceptual artist Nicholas Tory (renowned for his work at Vivid Sydney), Mini Beasts combines state-of-the-art technology and animatronics with a nod to our native fauna to deliver a mesmerising, cutting-edge surprise.

Adorned in thousands of glowing lights, Mini Beasts harnesses the power of movement and cleverly-positioned proximity sensors – paired with a myriad of special effects – to provide a truly interactive display.

A simple wave of the hand will result in the fluttering of wings, vibrating antennae and gentle singing from this insect collection.

The throng of flying beasts has already covered some serious mileage across the state as part of an exclusive collaboration with QIC, first hatching at Robina Town Centre last month, before scampering off to Toowoomba’s Grand Central. Now, it’s Logan City’s turn to get in on the big bug action.

Shoppers can also enter Hyperdome’s ‘Snap + Share’ competition during their visit – they simply upload a photo with one of the Mini Beasts and tag ‘Hyperdome’ on their social media channels to go in the draw to win a Hyperdome Gift Card.

The arrival of Mini Beasts at Hyperdome combines with the Centre’s recent unveiling of its North Mall, which saw the space undergo a modern refresh and the addition of exciting new retailers, plus the introduction of new services and upgraded amenities.

“We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our latest family-friendly activation – Mini Beasts at Hyperdome,” said Hyperdome Marketing Manager Charlotte Hall.

“As we continue to respond to the needs of our community, we are not only committed to delivering a vibrant fashion, lifestyle and entertainment offer, but also providing our customers with exciting in-centre experiences and unique activation programs that appeal to all ages.

“Mini Beasts is representative of this and we’re confident our community will embrace this exhibition throughout the month of October.”

In line with Hyperdome’s Covid-Safe plan, Mini Beasts will adhere to strict social distancing practices; viewing up close is permitted provided all visitors maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres from other visitors and use the hand sanitiser provided. We ask anyone who feels unwell to please stay at home.
