Police are still trying to determine what caused the fire which gutted a storage shed in the Logan City suburb of Parkridge overnight.
At one stage people living in the surrounding suburbs of Marsden and Crestmead were warned to stay indoors and close their windows until the air quality improved.
The flames were fuelled by thousands of burning tyres and 44-gallon drums of oil and grease.
Seven News reporter Alex Lewis says excavators are now being used by firefighters to knock down what’s left of the shed to smother the remaining flames.

Anyone with a respiratory condition is advised to keep their medications close by, and motorists should be careful on the roads.
Investigations are continuing.
The area is expected to remain a crime scene for most of the weekend as investigators probe the cause of the blaze and why so many tyres and drums were kept at the facility.
