A development application has been lodged for the expansion of the Springwood Mall Shopping Centre.
Chin Hong Investments Pty Ltd, the owner of Springwood Mall Shopping Centre at Fitzgerald Ave, lodged the application on August 27.

The application includes the following upgrades:
- A new dining precinct along the north front of the shopping centre facing Fitzgerald Ave.
- Expanding the existing Woolworths tenancy to include a drive-through parcel pick-up facility.
- Expanding the existing BWS tenancy.
- Reclaiming part of the Target tenancy to include a new commercial tenancy and a new ‘mini-major’ tenancy.
- Expanding the centre to allow for additional tenancies
- Expanding the car park
- New pedestrian footpaths and zebras crossings
- New signage throughout the centre

The proposal is to deliver the DA over two stages, with the new dining precinct comprising the second stage.
The planners at Town Planning Alliance said the proposal will also add to the existing mix of tenancies within the shopping centre including a new dining precinct and new commercial space.

“The proposal involving an extension to Springwood Mall is in keeping with the outcomes sought for the Centre Core Precinct as it will continue to support and enhance the desired use of the site for principal centre activities, being a shopping centre,” they said.

Springwood Mall currently contains Woolworths, Target, and 45 tenancies. Many of these tenancies are currently vacant.
Logan City Council is considering the proposal.
