As you might expect, reaction to last night’s federal budget has been mixed in Logan City and Scenic Rim.
Logan state MP Linus Power says while there are some good things, there are also some things that are missing such as no concentration on productivity growth and nothing about aged care.
On top of that, he says the budget pits people under 35 against those over 35.

Meantime, Scenic Rim Regional Council mayor Greg Christensen concurs with criticism of the budget’s differentiation between people either side of 35, saying it doesn’t help older folks in the job market.
He is also disappointed with what he says is the budget’s lack of attention to the big ticket items at the infrastructure level, specifically the Mt Lindesay Highway. Cr Christensen says it continues to be a poor cousin even though it’s a critical corridor for southeast Queensland’s economic growth.

Overall, however, he rates the budget at 7-and-a-half out of 10 because the tax cuts in it will be good for a lot of households.
