These are some of the damage reports coming in to various S.E.S. groups across South East Queensland.
While Ipswich received the brunt of the storm, parts of Logan City and the Scenic Rim were not exempt.
At one stage, the powerful Sunday afternoon storm caused chaos on the M1 with many motorists caught in blinding conditions, while in Underwood, roads lost traffic signals when power was cut. In one area, a tree took a direct hit from a bolt of lightning.
The weather bureau says a month’s worth of rain fell in just 20 minutes.
Today’s weather event has come earlier than expected, with storm season not “Officially” due to begin until December.
Forecasters say South East Queensland will continue to be hit with more wild weather over the coming months.
