Freshly painted emergency department doors have created a welcoming entrance at Logan Hospital for local patients and families in what can often be a stressful and difficult time.

Logan Hospital employee Chloe Zouppas said the painted doors supported the widespread implementation of established clinical redesign initiatives to improve value-based care of patients presenting to emergency departments across Queensland Health.

“Transforming emergency departments’ cultural safety takes ongoing commitment and it requires local people looking at local issues from multiple angles,” Zouppas said.

“The gap in health outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-indigenous people is a well documented priority area for both National and State governments and within Queensland Health there are many excellent cultural capability programs that provide a wide range of resources for each hospital and health service to improve services.

“As the front door to the hospital, emergency departments are central to how a health service is perceived and can set the scene for the entire health journey so we are excited to officially unveil our making tracks artwork around the emergency department sliding doors.”
