A full house at the Greenbank RSL saw the first series of Rockaoke Australia end with Sonya belting out ‘Highway to Hell’ to wrap up $3,000 in prize money. (clip is below).
This karaoke competition is quite different from others. Contestants were able to choose their songs and then perform with a real life rock band!
All 8 finalists performed two songs each which was broadcast live on Facebook throughout the night.
The winners and grinners
First round everyone was nervous, however in round two, all artists went to a new level.
Davo from Rebel 90.5FM said as judge ‘there was nothing in this competition with the two songs making it hard to split the performances.
Singing in front of a live band really gives people an opportunity to feel like a Rock star’.
All eight finalists went home with Prize money.
A second series of Rockaoke Australia is now planned to start in August at the Greenbank RSL.
