Logan police donate phones to help domestic violence victims

  • Brian Lowe is an experienced journalist with a background in both broadcast and digital media. He has worked in both Australia and the United States, has hosted podcasts and has reported on a wide range of issues during his career.

There has been an encouraging community response to a drive by Logan police to collect old mobile phones to give to victims of domestic violence.

The Logan Central police station has become a drop-off point for the DV Safe Phone program.

Superintendent Melissa Adams and Logan Central officer in charge, Senior Sergeant Brett Jackson were some of the first to place phones in the drop box, which so far has 11 donated phones.

Police are encouraging you to get digging through your drawers and cupboards to find your unused phones so that you might help save a life.

Before handing it in make sure you:
Erase all data
Remove SIM and/or memory cards
Sign out of accounts, including iCloud
And unlock the phone
