Border opens today

  • Scott Mayman is an award-winning radio presenter and journalist who has worked professionally in both Australia and in the United States and is also a Correspondent for CBS News Radio in New York.

From today,  Logan City and Scenic Rim residents won’t require a border permit to return to Queensland after visiting New South Wales.

Deputy Police Commissioner STEVE GOLLSCHEWSKI says it’s been a long time coming, but we can say goodbye to the border checkpoints…  which includes the Rathdowney checkpoint, which has been monitored by Beaudesert police for the past six months….

With the barricades coming down,  police say they will still carry out random traffic stops along the Queensland state road borders.

Anyone who had been in a declared COVID hotspot or overseas would still need to complete a border declaration pass online before travelling to Queensland and won’t be allowed to enter Queensland by road.  They would be required to stay in hotel quarantine for two weeks.

Compliance checks would be carried out on all flights from COVID-19 hotspots and random checks would be carried out by authorities.
