A Loganlea woman will perform 120 hours of community service, after she was charged with vehicle and drug-related offences.
Kristy Lee Wade pleaded guilty to the charges of driving without a licence, driving without a licence disqualified by a court order, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, using or permitting the use of vehicle for which a number plate attached is granted for another vehicle and possessing dangerous drugs at the Beenleigh Courthouse on Tuesday.
On November 18, 2021, police were conducting patrols in the Springwood area, where they found a Holden Commodore that had number plates belonging to another vehicle, near the Chatswood Hills Tavern.
Police waited for the owner of the vehicle to arrive, before making enquiries with Ms Wade.
After making enquiries, it was revealed that Ms Wade, who possessed the key to the vehicle, did not hold a valid drivers licence and that the attached plates belong to another vehicle that had its registration cancelled.
Earlier this month, police intercepted a vehicle that was driven by Ms Wade.
Police checks revealed that Ms Wade didn’t hold a valid drivers licence.
In a search of the vehicle, police located 3.9 grams of cannabis, that Ms Wade made admissions to owning.
In deciding on the matter, Ms Wade’s lawyer revealed that Ms Wade had accrued a State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER) debt totalling around $17,000 and that a fine would not be an appropriate sentence.
She was sentenced to complete 120 hours of unpaid community service and received a two month period of disqualification for each of her driving offences.
