Covid-19 lockdown may still end in time for Easter

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says the Greater Brisbane COVID-19 lockdown, including Logan City, could end in time for Easter.

The state recorded three new cases of COVID-19 in the past day – two acquired locally and one detected in hotel quarantine.

The locally acquired cases were linked to the COVID-19 ward at Princess Alexandra Hospital, a nurse who had received her first vaccine dose and her roommate.

The nurse was infected by a returned traveller from India. The person infected another nurse, who passed the virus onto a group of women who had attended a hens party at Byron Bay.

Ms Palaszczuk says there were no unlinked community cases and that’s a good sign.

“We will be providing you again with an update tomorrow at 9am and fingers crossed all will be looking good for Easter but it depends on the testing rates again. So, if we see very good testing rates across Queensland and we don’t see any unlinked community transmissions the signs for Easter are looking positive”.
