A much loved Logan City eco festival with a record for over 7000 attendees, has just gotten the green light to go ahead, after being postponed last year due to Covid-19.
Logan City Council is excited to announce the return of the Logan Eco Action Festival aka LEAF on 23 May, at the Griffith University campus in Meadowbrook.
“LEAF is our community’s opportunity to celebrate everything eco while exploring how we can all reduce, reuse and recycle to create a more sustainable world and future,” the website reads.
“Learn to make sustainable choices one LEAF at a time. ”
Main stage and workshops will feature interactive presentations from some of our country’s leaders in sustainability, gardening and waste reduction.
Plus eco-exhibitors, plant sale, sustainable cooking demonstrations, hands-on workshops, eco-markets and fun kids’ activities.
Logan City Councillor Tony Hall, known for his investment in protecting the enviornment, took to social media to share the big news.
“I just know a lot of kids in Logan will be excited to meet Dirt-girl and Scrap-boy in person this year,” he said.
“The festival, which attracts thousands of people annually, was postponed last year due to pandemic restrictions.
“But LEAF loyalists will be back in force at this year’s event, which will feature a new line up of presenters and performers, as well as some old favourites.”
Some of the most anticipated of guests are:
– Dirt-girl and Scrap-boy, of ABC Kids fame.
– Along with their great friend Costa the Garden Gnome – the alter ego of LEAF’s best known presenter, Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis – the dynamic duo will entertain kids and adults with their Grubby Bucket Show.
– Nutritionist Georgia Barnes – a former Masterchef contestant – will also draw crowds to LEAF’s Homegrown Cooking Stage this year.
– Ms Barnes, who is now the head of food and nutrition at Currumbin Valley’s Eden Health Retreat, will share advice on making Mondays meat-free and how to turn leftovers into top quality dishes.
Festival goers can also expect to learn tips on recycling e-waste, composting, cheese-making, sustainable fashion and keeping chickens, plus much more.
The 2021 program is under construction and will be available shortly.
