Goodies for Logan City in state budget

Treasurer and Member for Woodridge Cameron Dick said the state government had to borrow billions of dollars so that it could invest in infrastructure and create jobs.

Queensland’s debt will hit $130 billion in four years and Mr Dick said there was no other choice given the current coronavirus circumstances.

There are a number of goodies for Logan City in the state budget.

The big spends are the $1 billion M1 upgrade between Daisy Hill and the Logan Motorway, plus $750 million for the M1 between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill.

$95 million has been allocated for the Loganlea train station relocation, $30 million will be spent on the Beenleigh train station park ‘n’ ride and $21 million on the Greenbank station park ‘n’ ride.

Logan domestic and family violence services expect to get a share of $152 million funding.

$3.6 million has been earmarked for work on the FRS fire station at Mt Cotton, $2.7 million for continuing work at the fire station at Yarrabilba and there is investment in skills initiative to help train and retrain people in Yarrabilba over the next four years.

The government will also pump money into a project in the Scenic Rim as part of its hydrogen industry development fund.
