Police continue to fine drivers for disobeying the law over Easter

  • Rod Stephen is a former television journalist and has worked as Foreign Editor for the Seven Network, Australian Bureau Chief for TV3 New Zealand, UK correspondent for Seven and ABC radio and as a producer for Reuters TV in London as well as SBS in Sydney and Melbourne before returning to Brisbane to work at 4BC.

Police have issued 82 fines for drivers and passengers not wearing their seatbelts and 41 drivers using their mobile phones so far over the Easter period.

Officers also issued 1721 speeding fines and 288 drivers have been detected drink or drug driving.

As drivers prepare for driving home tomorrow, police remind everyone to manage fatigue.  Share the driving where possible and rest every two hours for at least 15 minutes.  Road safety is your responsibility.  Every decision you make on the road counts.
