MyNewsFeed has been covering a community program being driven by Logan district police in which used mobile phones are donated to victims of domestic violence in Logan City and I, as a shift editor here, decided to get personally involved.
Logan police have partnered with the DV Safe Phone program which enables community members to donate their phones at a drop box at the Logan Central police station. It’s open 24 hours a day.
The used phones are given to people in need throughout Logan City and DV Safe Phone will make sure your old mobile phone is erased, tested and distributed to someone in need.
To me, this is a worthwhile cause and is something that I was inspired to participate in as victims of domestic violence have already gone through enough trauma as it is, so I donated my old phone.
I see it as a much better thing to do with a used phone, rather than just getting rid of it or even recycling it because someone else, who perhaps isn’t in a position in which they can buy a new phone, can benefit from it.
Before handing in your old phone you should:
erase all data
remove SIM and/or memory cards
sign out of accounts, including iCloud
and unlock the phone
