A young construction worker has lost his licence for three months, after he crashed his car while drink driving at Windaroo this month.
Nicholas James Boland pleaded guilty to the charge of driving a motor vehicle over the middle alcohol limit at the Beenleigh Courthouse on Tuesday.
On March 4 at 11.15pm, Police were patrolling the Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road at Windaroo, where they found a Holden Commodore that had crashed into a ditch outside Windaroo Valley State High School.
On arrival, a tow truck was attempting to remove the car from the ditch.
Police located Mr Boland at the scene, who recorded a positive roadside breath test.
Mr Boland was later transported to Logan Hospital for precautionary checks.
After he was cleared from hospital, he was later transported to a police station, where he recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.104.
Prior to the crash, the 22-year-old had been out drinking with friends and reportedly felt fine to drive.
In her remarks, Magistrate Louise Shephard says Mr Boland drew police attention because of the crash.
“You drew the attention of police, as you had driven your car into a ditch.
“Thankfully you weren’t hurt, thankfully no one else was hurt.”
He was fined $650 and disqualified for holding a licence for three months.
